“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. And when I speak of doing the will of the Father, don’t think that I’m making ANY reference to all the instructions and commandments that I’ve been quoting and mentioning during this Sermon on the Mount. No. If you want to know what I mean by the phrase “does the will of My Father,” you’ll need to read a sentence from John’s Gospel, where some people asked me, ‘What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?,’ and I told them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.’
So that is what I mean when I say that only those who do the will of My Father will enter heaven. I am speaking, not about obeying commandments, but of simply believing in Me, even if you don’t keep God’s commandments.
“And this is how I want you to interpret everything I say. String together random sentences to make them fit your theology” (Matt. 7:21, American-Grace Translation).
