Are You Deceived?

We just completed our series on “Once Saved Always Saved/Eternal Security” deceptive teaching. Today’s Bible Teaching is about how do you know that you are a true follower of Jesus. The next series focuses on Paul’s letter to the Galatian Christians where Paul says “You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? (Galatians 5:7) This persuasion is not from him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump.”  It is this question that our study will help us answer individually and guide us away from the deceptive teachings of Satan into believing a “false security of salvation called Once Saved Always Saved or Eternal Security”.

You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

First Paul was addressing a very serious problem that crept into the Galatian sheep flock by a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The enemy was using “religion” as a weapon to drive others back into the bondage that the Galation Christians were just freed from which was “religion” or the “world”. “religion” looks very “Holy” on the outside and may even feel “Holy and Reverent” on the inside but that is why Paul also said “A little leaven leavens the whole lump”. Satan is also using this same deception in contemporary churches where they are teaching the “prosperity and feel good” deceptive false teaching.

Billy Graham said this “We do not fail to enjoy the fruit of the Spirit because we live in a sea of corruption; we fail to do so because the sea of corruption is in us.” and  Banning Liebscher said “Your life from seed to full-grown tree

is a process. We all like the idea of fruit, but rarely do we allow ourselves to build a root system.” When we allow the Satans false teaching to take root in our heart it chokes the word out and we return back to the yoke and

bondage of sin which is controlled by Satan “As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.”
Matthew 13:22.

Deceived people who call themselves a “christian” often do not realize that their master is Satan.

One sign that one may be a deceived “christian” is that there are no struggles, persecution or attacks from the enemy. David Ibiyeomie said “Nobody throws stones at a tree without fruits.” Jesus said in John 15:20 ” Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.” and 2 Timothy 3:12 ” In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,” BUT let 2 Peter 3:9 encourage you “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should

reach repentance.”

In the next devotion we will answer the question  how do I know if I have been decieved? by looking at the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Shawn Bolz said “Scripture is clear that if we’re growing in our relationship with God, we will produce spiritual fruit. The stronger we grow in our walk, the more fruit we’ll produce. There is a direct correlation.” and Heidi Baker said “The abundance of fruit comes out of intimacy with the Lord.”

I will end Today’s Bible Teaching with this poem written by Tony Rios,

The Holy Spirit infills the faithful servant’s soul with the grace filled fruits He plants within.
His are the fruits of grace: love, joy, peace, patience , kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and  self control.
Each one a blessing unto those who accept the Holy Spirit’s grace and the sovereignty of Almighty God in Christ.

Feel God’s love for you that He has always offered and obey his command to love one another as you use these fruits.
Rejoice in the presence of the Holy Spirit in you and share His bounteous love.
Unburden yourself of the shackles of sin, be at peace with all about you, my child.
In your dealings with others use restraint, let Christ’s patience be your guide.
Take time to share another’s plight, let your kindness shed God’s love and light.

Observe the actions of others, treat them with the goodness Christ gave you.
Find in your heart the strength to be a faithful friend to those who on you rely.

Take the time to gently aid those who have been mistreated and abused.
Harbor Ill will towards no one, let self-control have it’s way.
Enjoy the fruits of the Holy Spirit, let these attributes shine forth each day.
Happy are those who accept the love of Christ, for they have the Holy Spirit on which to rely.
Our bounty of love is overflowing and the more we share, the more we gain each day.
Love in the person of the Holy Spirit provides these fruits for all.
Yeshua, gave us salvation and eternal life, the Holy Spirit’s His fruits.

Saved by the grace of God, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit’s fruits.
Planted within us all; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, are the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
In keeping with His great love   for us, He sent the Holy Spirit to empower us.
Redeemed by His love, empowered by the Holy Spirit we are made presentable to God.
Immanuel, as He promised, sent the Holy Spirit to infill us with His grace.
Thus the fruits of the Holy Spirit enable us to share God’s love with those who are in spiritual need.
