Today’s Bible Teaching and the song is about being “religious” or a “follower of Jesus”. Let the song “Make My Life A Prayer To You” which is by Keith and Melonie Green be your prayer as you read or listen to Today’s Bible Teaching.

Make My Life A Prayer To You
(Sung by Keith and Written by Melonie Green)

Make my life a prayer to You
I wanna do what You want me to
No empty words and no white lies
No token prayers, no compromise
I wanna shine the light You gave
Through Your Son You sent to save us
From ourselves and our despair
It comforts me to know
You’re really there
Well, I wanna thank Ya now
For being patient with me
Oh, it’s so hard to see
When my eyes are on me
I guess I’ll have to trust
And just believe what You say
Oh, You’re coming again
You’re coming to take me away
I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope Ya gave to me, the love that set me free
I wanna tell the world out there
You’re not some fable or fairy tale
That I’ve made up inside my head
You’re God, the Son, You’ve risen from the dead
Oh, I wanna thank Ya now
For being patient with me (with me)
Oh, it’s so hard to see
When my eyes are on me
I guess I’ll have to trust
And just believe what You say
Oh, You’re coming again (coming again)
You’re coming to take me away
I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope You gave to me
I wanna share the love
That set me free

Let the Holy Spirit speak and teach you what the Word of God is saying to you about our relationship with the Lord. I pray that you will be able to answer the question,

“Am I really a follower of Jesus” or am I just being a religious “christian”?

Matthew 10:33 says “but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” A better word to use is disown instead of not deny, it means that they once professed know Jesus at one time but then they disown him therefore forfeiting their salvation because Jesus said that He would also disown them.

“For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:38

“They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.”

Titus 1:16

“If we ·accept suffering [endure; persevere], we will also ·rule [reign] with him.
If we ·say we don’t know [deny; disown; renounce] him, he will ·say he doesn’t know [deny; disown; renounce] us.” 2 Timothy 2:12 (EXB)

Being religious, going to church, reading your Bible, does not get you into heaven. God wants a sincere and obedient heart with is shown in and lived out in your life.

“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as when the voice of the Lord is obeyed? behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken is better than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22 (1599 Geneva Bible)

“If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.” John 14:15 (AmpB)

“And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,” 1 John 2:3-4

“But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!” Matthew 5:20

If we are truly followers of Jesus we need to OBEY, the Hebrew word “Shema” means to Hear and Do and is taken from Deuteronomy 6:4-5 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Give your “will” to the Lord and you will have “eternal security”. If you do not, then you have left the “eternal security” of being in the hands of God the Father and God the Son by walking away and leaving your salvation in the hands of God the Father and God the Son.

As followers of Jesus, when we truly obey, then we are seeking to always please God, David Severant said,

“If trying to please God is wrong because “there is nothing we can do to please God,” and “anyone who is trying to do something to please God is trying to earn his salvation,” what are these verses doing in the New Testament?”

“And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are PLEASING TO HIM”

(John 8:29).

“But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may PLEASE THE LORD; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife” (1Cor. 7:32-33).

“Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be PLEASING TO HIM [God]” (2Cor. 5:9).

“Walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is PLEASING TO THE LORD” (1 Cor. 5:8-10).

“We have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to PLEASE HIM IN ALL RESPECTS, bearing fruit in every good work” (Col. 1:9-10).

“But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as PLEASING men, but GOD who examines our hearts” (1Th. 2:4).

“Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and PLEASE GOD (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more” (1Th. 4:1).

“By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was PLEASING TO GOD. And without faith it is impossible to PLEASE HIM, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Heb. 11:5-6).

“And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices GOD IS PLEASED”

(Heb. 13:1).

“Now the God of peace…equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is PLEASING IN HIS SIGHT, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever

(Heb. 13:21).

“And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and DO THE THINGS THAT ARE PLEASING IN HIS SIGHT” (1 John 3:22).

Let me ask you are you pleasing God?

in closing let the poem which is titled “The Narrow Road Is Open” and was written by my friend and brother in the Lord, Tony Rios be your prayer,

Take heed of your surroundings, for many are the enticements that can lead you astray.

Hold on to the way of the narrow road, be firm and let the Holy Comforter be your guide.

Elohim’s home is your ultimate destination, and the Holy Comforter will get you there.

Narrow is the road to salvation, but Jesus has paved the way.

Adonai will never leave your side, thus you are not alone in your journey.

Roads both wide and slim can lead you to exciting prospects, do not let them sway you.

Remember only one road was made open by the Son of God, all others will lead you astray.

Our Redeemer sacrificed His life so salvation’s road would be open to us, stay the course.

Weak we may be, the Holy Comforter will sustain us in our salvation quest, for truly He is strong.

Redeemed by Love made man, through Jesus, we have a proper destination and direction.

Omnipotent in His power, He will provide for our needs as we abide by His will.

Accepting the gift of eternal life as freely offered by the Son of God we become His children.

Destination and eternal life are assured when we proclaim the message of Christ’s salvation.

In Him is the Way, Jesus is the truth personified, He is the light that reveals the true path of salvation.

Savior of mankind, Jesus is the Son of God, the Lamb of salvation, He has paid our debts in full.

Our God’s promises are true, because as truth personified, all things exist on his Word.

Prepare yourself for your journey, take on the arraignment of truth as God intended.

Every day, the faithfulness of God’s presence is made available to you, embrace Him..

Now is the time of your redemption, now is the time to claim God’s presence in your life.
